Charles Ulen Pickrell papers, 1891-1962 (bulk 1940-1961).

Personal and official correspondence, photographs, articles, speeches, clippings, notes and related material on cowboys, Arizona pioneers, cattle industry and agriculture. Includes clippings from son Robert W. Pickrell's campaign for State Attorney General, 1960; some records of the Extension Service, including staff rosters, 1891-1958; photographs of cattle, sheep, and unidentified pioneers; materials from 1952 South Africa trip as consultant to British Government on economic development and cattle production; and manuscript material for a history on the University's College of Agriculture. Also includes cowboy poems by Bruce Kiskaddon, printed on Los Angeles Union Stock Yards calendars, 1941- 1959, and research on cattle brands.

Bruce Kiskaddon, born in Pennsylvania in 1878, began his ranch life in 1898 in southern Colorado. Kiskaddon also worked at the Diamond Bar in Mohave County, Arizona, where he was encouraged to put his songs, verses and jingles into writing. Kiskaddon served in World War I in France with the cavalry. He was a buckaroo in Australia for a time before returning to Arizona.
